This Role

Do you love helping people find solutions to their questions? Do you like to keep up with technology? Norvado, the area’s premier provider of broadband services and products, is looking for you. We are looking for a full-time, Residential Customer Network Technician, to be a customer-facing position that collaborates to install and support our high-speed internet and telecommunication products. This includes installing and troubleshooting fiber to the home services, WI-FI routers, streaming TV, smart home systems and video surveillance, with a high regard to customer service, quality, and efficiency.

Knowledge, Education, & Experience

  • Knowledge and skills usually acquired through a certification/diploma program or associate degree in Telecom/Broadband communications, IT, electronics or related field or the equivalent training and work experience.
  • Computer and network literacy and an ability to learn Norvado proprietary operating software and applications.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions from written, oral, or diagram formats.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding company and customer data.
  • Ability to use and maintain outside plant operational software and applications.
  • Ability to pick out color-coded cables.
  • Comply with all RUS specifications, industry standards, safety rules and regulations, and company policies.
  • Activities may be necessary outside normal business hours. Must be able to respond to “on-call” or emergency maintenance situations.
  • CompTIA or similar certifications are desired.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.

Environmental Conditions

  • Some exposure to outside weather during normal workday.
  • The role is based out of Eagle River, Wisconsin office.

Equipment & Tools

DAILY USE OF: Telecommunications test equipment, power and hand tools, ladders, computer, telephone, smart devices, calculator, copier, fax, and printers.

Customer Service/Interaction

  • Daily phone, written, and face-to-face contact with employees throughout the company to exchange information.
  • Daily phone, written, and face-to-face contact with customers to conduct business.

Other

  • Occasional overnight travel required.
  • Frequent travel by vehicle required.
  • Occasional overtime required.
  • Frequent on call required.
